If you take time off from work due to sickness

If an insured person is unable to work to undergo treatment for a nonoccupational sickness or injury and is unable to earn salary or other income during this time, he or she will be paid “Injury and Sickness Allowance”.

If you take time off from work due to sickness

Required documents:

If there were two or fewer outpatient visits in the last month or the person is a Voluntarily and Continuously Insured Person

If a person receiving an injury and sickness allowance retires, their medical care continues, and there is a payment period
If not voluntarily and continuously insured

In the case of injury

If a bereaved family member submits a claim

  • * Form used by the person in charge at the Health Insurance Society
Deadline: As soon as possible
Applies to: Insured persons taking time off from work due to sickness (those satisfying all four conditions below)
Address inquiries to: The person in charge of social insurance at the establishment
Notes:

You must satisfy all four of the following conditions to receive this allowance:

  • You must be undergoing treatment for the sickness or injury
  • You must be unable to work due to the treatment
  • You must have missed work for at least three consecutive days
  • You must be unable to earn your salary or other income
